Easy Tips for Going Green:

  • Unplug appliances when they are not in use (can save up to $70/year on your electric bill)
  • Use ceiling fans to improve air circluation and reduce your air conditioning bills
  • Low flow shower heads (if you are a Seinfeld fan, you know Jerry, Kramer and Newman were NOT fans of the “low flow” shower heads!)
  • If you are looking for an excuse to put in hardwood floors, they reduces vacuuming which cuts down on your electric bills
  • Use compact florescent light (CFL) bulbs which will save electricity and use timers for lights – interesting FACT – if every American home replaced five incandescent (“regular”) bulbs with five CFL bulbs we would save as much as $6.5 billion in electricity costs
  • Install a programmable thermostat – its more accurate, and will help save up to 20% in heating and cooling costs
  • Plant trees on the east and west side of your house to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter

Dear Friends, 

It looks like winter might FINALLY be coming to an end!  The days are getting longer and it is no longer dark most days when I leave the office.  Enclosed is a reminder to change your clocks this weekend and it is a good idea to change any batteries in smoke detectors, etc.   

THE MARKET…  I don’t care what CNN, MSNBC and the rest have to say, the phones are ringing and email inquiries are increasing which points to a good spring market.  Let’s face it, our market needed a “price correction” after the way sale prices rose faster than incomes in 2005 and 2006.  We will continue to see foreclosures and “short sales” through 2008 and into 2009, but many of these properties are in good condition, priced extremely well, and pose great investment opportunities.  Interest rates are still at a historic low, all of which makes this a great time to buy!   

TAKE A BREAK…  Enclosed is an article that describes some great ideas for vacations.  If you have been waiting desperately for spring like I have, I’m sure you will enjoy reading this and imagining yourself somewhere warm.
